Base pay range

$120,000.00/yr - $160,000.00/yr

Company Overview:

A New York-based investment firm focused on delivering exceptional returns through innovative investment strategies and disciplined operational execution is seeking a Senior Fund Accountant to join our Finance team. This role is a key contributor to the firms financial reporting and control functions and plays an integral part in the day-to-day oversight of our private investment funds.

Position Summary:

The Senior Fund Accountant will be responsible for maintaining the books and records of the firms funds in accordance with U.S. GAAP. This individual will work closely with internal stakeholdersincluding Operations, Investor Relations, Management Reporting, Tax, and Legal & Complianceas well as with third-party fund administrators. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically strong, and comfortable managing multiple workstreams in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the fund NAV finalization process, including P&L reconciliation and allocation to investors for open- and closed-end private fund structures.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies in collaboration with third-party fund administrators and internal teams.
• Review and verify calculations of management fees, carried interest, and incentive fees per fund governing documents.
• Review and approve capital call and distribution allocations and investor notifications.
• Approve investor capital account statements prepared by third-party administrators.
• Prepare quarterly unaudited and annual audited financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
• Coordinate year-end audits with external auditors and ensure timely completion.
• Prepare monthly fund performance attribution reports for senior management.
• Develop and review monthly fund forecasts, NAV performance estimates, and respond to ad hoc reporting requests.
• Support annual regulatory filings, investor communications, custom reporting, and firm-level reporting packages.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with teams including Operations, Investor Relations, Tax, Legal & Compliance, and others.
• Review and process fund-level expenses, vendor payments, and operating expense budgets.
• Analyze fund legal documentation and assist in process improvement, template development, and automation initiatives.
• Participate in special projects and support strategic firm-wide initiatives, including the enhancement of workflows, procedures, and internal controls.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or progress toward CPA strongly preferred.
• 46 years of experience in fund accounting, preferably within private equity, hedge funds, or alternative asset management.
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and fund structures (open-ended and closed-ended).
• Familiarity with fund governing documents (LPAs, PPMs, etc.) and their application to accounting and reporting.
• Proficiency in Excel; experience with fund administration platforms and general ledger systems is a plus.
• Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.
