Job Overview:
A prominent boutique law firm in San Jose is seeking a Criminal Defense Attorney to join its team. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational and communication skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. This client-centered firm specializes in state-level adult criminal cases and domestic violence/civil harassment restraining order cases in Santa Clara County. Location:

  • San Jose, CA

Duties:

  • Manage criminal defense cases and restraining order cases, providing strong client interaction.
  • Handle litigation, draft pleadings, motions, and briefs, and prepare legal records for court filings.
  • Organize and produce discovery documents and manage case-related materials, including evidence and exhibits.
  • Communicate effectively with attorneys, clients, and the court.
  • Prepare and file court documents, ensuring timely compliance with deadlines.
  • Conduct legal research and assist with trial preparation.
  • Appear in court as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Current State Bar of California Member (required).
  • Proven experience as an attorney, with knowledge of criminal law and legal procedures.
  • Strong organizational and detail-oriented skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and work under pressure.
  • Familiarity with trial preparation, litigation issues, and the subpoena process.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and experience with Clio, Green Filing, Adobe Pro, Outlook, and other software applications.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in California (required).

Skills:

  • Knowledge of criminal law, legal procedures, and court systems.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and pleading drafting skills.
  • Ability to juggle multiple responsibilities and prioritize tasks.
  • Excellent judgment and decision-making ability.
